Roick is an experienced lawyer in various aspects of business law. With expertise in mergers and acquisitions, banking and finance, corporate law, competition laws, capital markets, securities regulations, real estate, foreign investments, bankruptcy, and estate planning and restructuring, he is specialized in dispute resolution and other business disputes. Specifically, in the fields of mergers and acquisitions, Roick has represented local and foreign clients, highlighted by a number of renowned cases with market attention. His legal advisory services to local and foreign M&A clients cover mergers, assets and shares acquisitions, joint ventures, corporate split-ups, attack/defense of hostile takeover cases, venture capital, and various cross-strait investments.
Roick has represented both local and foreign banks and other financial institutions in numerous financial transactions, having been consulted on syndicated loans and general financing, commercial trusts, concerned equity fund issues, matters involving securities investment consulting firms, securities investment trusts, and acquisitions of various financial institutions. Roick has also assisted foreign banks in managing their integrated businesses after acquisition of domestic financial institutions, such as reorganization, establishment of subsidiaries, and various asset sell-backs after merger disputes. He also assists foreign banks in annual consultancy and update of all types of contracts and bank documents.
In addition, Roick has involved himself heavily in the research of legal structures and business models of companies established in emerging technologies (e.g., cryptocurrencies, FinTech) and digital economy, enabling him to assist international and Taiwanese clients across a wide range of industries, including blockchain, virtual asset service providers (VASPs), AI, FinTech, gig and sharing economy, digital platforms, edge computing, crowdfunding, Ad/MarTech, EduTech, e-commerce, internet industries, semiconductor ecosystems, ESG, and sustainability technologies. Furthermore, Roick has great interest and long-term practice in Taiwan and international laws surrounding innovation and entrepreneurship, and is invited to provide advice to the government on regulatory policies from time to time.
